Politecnico di Milano_Design and system Innovation for Sustainability Research Unit

Politecnico di Milano is a scientific-technological university, which trains engineers, architects and industrial designers. The University has always focused on the quality and innovation of its teaching and research developing a fruitful relationship with business and productive world. DIS (Design and system Innovation for Sustainability), part of the DESIGN department, is the coordinating research unit.

“The politecnico di milano DIS research unit is being supported by the IMAGIS research team of the same institution. Their activities relate to communication strategies, audiovisual language and storytelling for social innovation and branding, focusing on transmedia formats. Their activities are supported by the Movie Design Lab that offers competences and technologies for video production and post-production.”

 

Consorzio SIS

SIS (Sistema Imprese Sociali, social enterprises system) consortium was established in Milan in 1995. Today it groups 30 associates (social cooperatives, associations, consortia) from the non-profit sector in Milan.  Its main objective is to support social solidarity through entrepreneurial criteria: it interacts with its associates, putting together, integrating and linking in a network their products and services. It coordinates the Punto e Linea project (http://www.progettopuntoelinea.it).

Tortona Area Lab

The no profit association Tortona Area Lab was established in 2010 to valorise the potential of the area in Milan contained by the streets via Savona, via Tortona and via Stendhal, offering impulse and support to activities related to culture and creativity (especially fashion and design) and building a channel to listen and support the territory, able to collect and represent the needs of a lively and quickly changing neighbourhood in relation with public institutions.

The four founding members are Gisella Borioli of Superstudio Group, Uberto Cajrati Crivelli of Estate 4, Marzia Cantone of Magna Pars and Daniela Triulzi of Tortona Locations. Starting from April 2011, the association is responsible for designing, promoting and managing the coordination and communication project Tortona Design Week, an integrated system of services for the area and communication tools, sponsored by Milan municipality, supporting more than 200 companies and international designers, exhibiting in the formerly industrial spaces in the area.
